Deathly Hallows

I want to post a review, but I dont want to spoiler anything. So all I’m going to say is if youre a Potter fan, all your questions will at last be answered - and you’re going to LOVE this book. It’s a fitting end to a fantastic series. Jo Rowling is completely awesome.

Oh, and I was totally right about Snape. Woot!

Thanks, Coach Z!!!! <3<3<3

The BBC has a pretty good review with no spoilers. A little sappy but hey, theyre justifiably biased, aren’t they?

And then there’s this article, from whence cometh the following:

“I think it’s a little chutzpah of them to open the stores just to make money,” Associated Press news agency quoted Israeli member of parliament Avraham Ravitz as saying.

Well, you might say that, Mr. Ravitz; and others might say they think it’s a little chutzpah of YOU to force your religious beliefs on an entire nation. Live and let live, nu? From one fairy tale to another.

Forgive me, but I think Rowling’s tale is far more interesting anyway…and I dont have to beat my breast, rip my clothes, ostracize my friends, suspend my intellect, murder anyone, wage global war, perform acts of terrorism, discriminate against anyone, or otherwise suppress anyone’s human right to live and be free in peace and equality in any way to read it. Can’t say that about your preferred tale of choice, now can you? Laws based on religion are stupid, intolerant, and backwards.

Now be quiet and go read something. I recommend “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” Or, if you want something more challenging, give “Lord of the Rings” a try.

You might actually enjoy yourself for a change!

Best. Fanfic. Ever.

So remember my stubbornly unlinkable friend from a few posts ago? Yeah, him. He’s linkable! I forgot he had a LiveJournal he doesnt post to very often. I’m working on him to change that bit of antisocial behaviour; he’s a good writer and he’s hilariously funny in delightfully odd ways. He doesnt see it, which makes it even funnier.

I hate fanfic. I hate it. Most of it is appallingly bad and appallingly badly written. Today though he was going through his LJ archive and linked the following story to me, which I repeat here in its entirety for posterity.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you now…

The Best. Fanfic. Ever.

Groovy
So I was requested to do a fanfic. A male/male fanfic. Okay, you fucking asked for it.

If you don’t like it, don’t bitch at me and say it sucks because I don’t like criticism. IT WAS FOR MY FRIEND I SWEAR! *looks around*

Pairing: These two guys
Rating: NC-17 + A (for awesome!)
Word Count: Uhhh..

Teh Awesome Multipurpose Fanfic

Enter. Really sexy guy.

Enter. Other sexy guy.

Clothed in silky robe things. Both of them. Totally.

Robes drop to the floor. Magic. Lack of grammar.

Lots of ribbons. Lots of periods. Not those periods.

Guy with that one type of hair shoved on bed. Guy with other type hair follows.

Jerking - To grasp and move about randomly and with force; masturbation. Mutual. Yeah.

A moan. Two of them. I think. Maybe more. Fuck it. Lots of moaning.

Lube spells. Shake that wand just right.

Ass. Into which it is shoved. Ouch. Not my type of thing. I can still write about it.

Much rejoicing. Screaming ensues. Ecstacy, I don’t know how to spell it.

Lots of penis juice. Itchy tasty. Wash hands afterwords.

Laying in the bed. One asks what the other is thinking about.

A slap. A map. A wiggity wiggity whap. Bust a rhyme.

This story sucks.

incarnate85: Groovy

This really could be the start of something beautiful

Whatever the reason, global warming is now a fact of life. Many people believe that global warming is caused by human pollution. Others believe it’s a natural cycle of the planet’s functioning. And there are those short-sighted, arrogant, selfish ostriches parading as human beings…whether due to greed or ignorance doesnt really matter…who don’t believe it’s happening at all.

Personally, I believe it’s a combination of the first two factors, and that most of the humans causing the worst damage are the ones that make up the population I mention in the third factor.

Many of that sort of person could be found in pre-Katrina New Orleans. I lived in the city only seven months, but I am here to tell you that sometimes, seven months can seem like seven decades. New Orleans was one case in point that perfectly illustrated that phenomenon. Now, 12 years later, I still think fondly of New Orleans a surprising amount of the time. The Garden District, mostly, at night, with its twinkling lights and the lush, heady smells of wisteria, honeysuckle, and tropical heat, often comes back to haunt me in dark and pleasant ways, as though I were in an Anne Rice vampire novel. It really is…was…like that, New Orleans, in unexpected pockets of the city. I think a lot of the French Quarter, as well. I spent a lot of time roaming the streets of the Vieux Carre, always finding a hidden nook or courtyard even on streets I’d been down a hundred times before.

(wait, I can explain…)
