Wow. You mean after all these years someone in authority has finally done something about the fact that that our U.S.-backed guerilla vigilante operatives were running around Iraq shooting civilians and being as unlawful as it is possible to be, all while on the payroll of the United States government? Imagine that!
These guys have been over there operating under absolutely zero restraint, under zero control, and zero law since the second they landed, have been far better equipped, paid, and cared for than our actual soldiers – to the point where many soldiers refuse to re-up in the military, opting instead to eagerly to sign up with Blackwater and the other for-hire operative groups that are in Iraq and Afghanistan because of the very high pay and the great perks. Theyve been running amok, blowing shit up and murdering civilians in cold blood since day one and it’s only just now finally gotten the attention of our media? Britney Spears must be having a slow day today.
I dont expect that attention to last long, but at least something is better than nothing; their contract is now terminated. It’s about fucking time. I won’t even pretend to be naive enough to believe that anyone will be held accountable in any way, but at least the contract has been terminated.
I’m glad the Iraqi government actually had a nut and is banning them, but I wonder how long it’ll be before we find out that some kind of shady deal has been reached to allow them to continue operating over there. We have nowhere near enough troops to deal with this mess we’ve got in the Mideast; that’s why these goons were brought in in the first place. No way in hell theyre not going to be allowed to continue to operate.
This government, en masse, should be put on trial for crimes against humanity.

Sorry, hon — the Iraqi government has no authority to do such a thing. They are under U.S. control. In addition, they have complete immunity from prosecution. They could eat babies if they wanted to, and nobody could touch them. Depressing, but true.
(Meanwhile, my deli seems to have used Maxwell House today. I’m horrified.)

These Blackwater guys? They DO eat babies. I saw pictures.
Coffee is nasty. You should drink tea instead. :D
