Know what I wish?

I wish that someone would haul off and punch Barbara Bush right in her mouth on international television. Maybe make her swallow her dentures, or break her nose, or something. And then just walk away.

I think that would be really neat.

Wait…what?

Oh, give me a fucking BREAK!!

At a hearing on the topic, Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) said, without offering details, that he is considering new laws aimed at addressing the problem. He said he was troubled by the possibility that foreign governments, terrorists or organized crime could gain access to documents that reveal national secrets.

Also at the hearing, Mark Gorton, the chairman of Lime Wire, which makes the peer-to-peer software LimeWire, was assailed for allegedly harming national security through offering his product.

Scotty museum set to beam up fans

The birthplace of Scotty from Star Trek is to host an exhibition dedicated to the cult sci-fi character.

Linlithgow was one of four Scottish towns claiming to be the home of Scotty, famous for beaming colleagues up to the Starship Enterprise.

The West Lothian town’s claim was eventually confirmed by Star Trek script writer Dorothy C Fontana.

Linlithgow will now hold the exhibition to mark the second anniversary of the death of Scotty actor James Doohan.

The James Doohan Memorial Exhibition will open its doors to the public in Linlithgow’s Annet House museum on Friday 3 August.

Deathly Hallows

I want to post a review, but I dont want to spoiler anything. So all I’m going to say is if youre a Potter fan, all your questions will at last be answered - and you’re going to LOVE this book. It’s a fitting end to a fantastic series. Jo Rowling is completely awesome.

Oh, and I was totally right about Snape. Woot!

Thanks, Coach Z!!!! <3<3<3

The BBC has a pretty good review with no spoilers. A little sappy but hey, theyre justifiably biased, aren’t they?

And then there’s this article, from whence cometh the following:

“I think it’s a little chutzpah of them to open the stores just to make money,” Associated Press news agency quoted Israeli member of parliament Avraham Ravitz as saying.

Well, you might say that, Mr. Ravitz; and others might say they think it’s a little chutzpah of YOU to force your religious beliefs on an entire nation. Live and let live, nu? From one fairy tale to another.

Forgive me, but I think Rowling’s tale is far more interesting anyway…and I dont have to beat my breast, rip my clothes, ostracize my friends, suspend my intellect, murder anyone, wage global war, perform acts of terrorism, discriminate against anyone, or otherwise suppress anyone’s human right to live and be free in peace and equality in any way to read it. Can’t say that about your preferred tale of choice, now can you? Laws based on religion are stupid, intolerant, and backwards.

Now be quiet and go read something. I recommend “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” Or, if you want something more challenging, give “Lord of the Rings” a try.

You might actually enjoy yourself for a change!

Bayberry 2005 - 2007

Bayberry Badrat - Little Jellybelly Man, eating some shredded wheat - June 07

Bayberry died about 40 minutes ago. He had been diagnosed with renal cancer last weekend. I was hoping that the antibiotics he was on would help him, but they really didnt. At least his illness wasn’t long and lingering.

He was a good, good rat who loved his peas and always had a smile on. Farewell, my little Badbelly Rat. May the stars shine down upon your tiny galactic highway. I’ll see you on the other side. I’m so glad you’re not in pain anymore. I wish I could have helped you.

Trees

Trees

I am looking at trees
they may be one of the things I will miss
most from the earth
though many of the ones I have seen
already I cannot remember
and though I seldom embrace the ones I see
and have never been able to speak
with one
I listen to them tenderly
their names have never touched them
they have stood round my sleep
and when it was forbidden to climb them
they have carried me in their branches
