OH MY GOD I NEVER SAW THIS COMING!

Hillary Rodham-Clinton is officially joining the race for 2008. If anyone out there is surprised to hear this, then let me be among the first to congratulate you for coming out of that coma youve been in for the past several years! Welcome back!

Sorry, Hil, but your pro-war, slightly toooooo conservative middle of the roadism, and waffling (as well as several other things youve done that have annoyed me since youve become a Senator) are forcing my hand. You still can’t come right out and admit that you were an idiot for supporting the invasion of Iraq. I have a really serious problem with that. I loved you, and I still admire you, and I want to support you, but Al’s got my vote unless you start showing a lot more of the liberalism and common sense youve shown in the past. You never were the leftiest of the left, but you were a hell of a lot more left than you are now. I dont hope you lose, but if Al runs, he’s got my vote.

In fact, youre getting so far to the right of middle that right now you’re not even blue anymore – youre purple. And that’s just a little bit too much red for me in this climate. At this point, we need all the blue we can get just to clear up this fucking mess that Chimpy McFuckwit and his ilk have made. Then we can go back to middle of the road politics, where we take the best of both sides and make the correct choices, the way it’s supposed to be.

Actually, Obama had my vote before those stupid beach pics came up and he acted like a convent school girl over them, and practically cried in public. Any public figure who gets that upset about his nipples being photographed while he’s on a goddamn beach swimming in the sea doesnt sit well with me. If youre that much of a pussy with a harmless, perfectly normal photograph, what the hell are you going to do when an entire Senate full of right wing hawks converges on you? I shudder to even consider it. We need someone who will push back at these guys and stand his (or her) ground, not a puling little sissy that goes down like a hooker at a gangbang. I like Barack Obama and I foresee a great potential in him. I heartily support a great many of his views and ideas (not all, but most), but something about him just puts me slightly off.

I dont like the slippery way he answers questions; his responses are often formed to be as non-offensive as possible, and as far as the things I’ve heard that he’s said, he seems extremely unwilling to ever make a definitive statement that places blame or responsibility on anyone for anything, regardless of how atrocious. He is one of those guys who says let’s focus on the future and not worry so much about placing blame. The thing is, placing blame is mandatory if you ever expect to get rid of the rampant corruption we’ve got going in Washington right now. Without placing blame, you let the bad guys go. Without placing blame and forcing people to take responsibility for the things they do, you are basically just giving everyone a ticket to misbehave without having to pay for the consequences.

I dont like the fact that Obama is too reluctant to make these statements plainly, clearly, and unequivocally. I like that he states his own viewpoints about things, but if youre the President of the United States, part of your job is making sure that the government youre in control of is doing the right thing, and punished and removed when they do not…especially when they do the wrong things willfully. I dont trust him to do that. He’s too damn soft, at least right now.

As much as I’d like to be able to ignore everything else and come down to voting for a woman or a Black dude just because theyre a woman and a Black dude, I can’t live with myself if I do that. I’ll have to go with Al until either Barack or Hillary show me that they’re the better choice. I can’t choose a candidate for their gender or the colour of their skin. I can only feel justified in casting my vote if I know that it’s the most educated, rational, logical, coherent vote I can make, based on facts and records, based on performance and ability, and who is the best candidate for the job.

Plus, not for nothing, but since he’s already been elected twice anyway, I think it’s only fair that Al Gore should get to sit in the big chair for at least one term, dont you? In fact, he should just be defaulted in in 2008, really. How many times does the guy have to win the election before he gets to have his chance?

He’s grown a lot more personality since 2004. I hope he runs, and if he does, I hope like hell that he lets that personality come out. The more personable and regular guy he is, the fewer people will be intimidated by the fact he’s intelligent, and the more people will like him. That’s what it really comes down to in this country.

I just dont see us…the majority of us, I should say…voting for a broad or a brother right now. It’s way too forward-thinking, and we’re way too ignorant and repressive. And besides, you actually have to know something about their politics to understand what’s going on anyway. Since the majority of the voting public votes solely based on popularity contests, what counts now is how cool you are on the outside, not the content of your character or your politics.

*sigh*

Cant we pleeease institute testing for voter registration? Please?

For the record, as it stands now, my choices, in order:

1. Bernie Sanders*
2. Al Gore
3. Hillary Clinton
4. Barack Obama.

And any one of those guys for VP.

*My dream team vote. I would die of delight if he ran, and probably explode on the spot if he won, but only after I cast my ballot for him. What can I say? I’m a hardcore Democratic Socialist. A girl can dream!
