Words…them’s good eatin’!

Yeah, yeah. So I said that I would never use a theme for WordPress that someone else made. Fuck you.

Here’s the thing. I’m having a monumental battle with my rage. It’s really kind of stupid and I’m not only angry about the insane complexity of working with WordPress, but now I’m angry with myself for being so angry. There is no point to it. I’m not the only person complaining… and from what I’ve seen, the WordPress developers are aware of this malcontent, but dont seem to be doing much about it, although the development of the software continues apace. They are streamlining things in some areas, and of course this stuff takes time, but the documentation and how to information is sadly lacking. This is just the barest tip of the iceberg, but there is no reason to be so angry about it. I have three choices:

1. Shut the fuck up and dont use it.

2. Shut the fuck up and learn how to use it.

3. Shut the fuck up and wait until what you want them to provide is available and use something else in the meantime…or use someone else’s theme and adapt it to your own use over time. I might even learn something that way, frog forbid.

So, I’ve decided to mix and match a bit of numbers two and three: learn how to use it, wait for upgraded documentation and releases, and adapt someone else’s theme over time. But first I have to get over being so fucking angry about the whole thing, because now I just look at a tutorial and see red and then I can kiss any kind of motivation or concentration goodbye as a result. That’s really the worst bit. So as I sat here looking at the instructions on how to do something that should have been absurdly easy, and becoming more and more enraged so what I was trying to read might as well have been written in Swahili, I just said you know, fuck it. I’m going to go pick something that’s roughly close to the layout I want and then just tweak it. At least people will be able to read it and navigate through it, and I dont have to have a stroke in the meantime.

This layout is a little bit too accountantish for me to leave as is, but it’s a good framework for me to start playing with, and I like the colours. Once I get used to being able to post without thinking of how horrible the blog page is, I’ll be able to start messing around with it. Ubah.

In other news, my two older boyrats have vicious diarrhea. :(
